Stop crying, you entitled little brat. People getting free shit doesn't affect you at all. I didn't get to take advantage of the bug, but that won't stop me from buying RP in the future.
-Signed, someone who actually took advantage of the bug
Exploiters aren't even trying to hide it lmaoo
Edit: Thanks to everybody responding to my comment and disagreeing. How many skins did you manage to get tho?
I disagree with you. People in this thread are throwing the biggest fucking hissy fits ever. Know who's fault it is you spent thousands of dollars on skins? Yours. No one should be punished or lose stuff because they did something the game allowed. I've never played this game. I barely even know what it is. But holy shit some of the people in this thread are fucking embarrassing. I can't believe adults act like this.
You nailed it right on the head. This needs to be top comment
Let's be honest if given the opportunity to have just about every skin unlocked everyone would do so and the only people who are that upset are people who didn't get that chance and it would seem have sunk waaaaaay too much money into this game.
i'd do it too if it was available to me but it doesnt mean its bullshit and it devalued the 2+ grand ive spent on this game
How do devalue digital dresses that were worth $0 in the first place lol
Tell me more about how this devalued your untradable, inherently unvaluable champion skin?
How? Another person's Riot account in no way affects your own. There isn't an economy of skins. Each account is isolated within its own bubble. If you buy slushies, and miss out on free slushie day, does that devalue all of the slushies you enjoyed previously?
No they didn’t get a lifetime supply, they got all they could drink one day. Tomorrow if you wanted to buy another one yesterday doesn’t affect you
Aaaaaaaand how does that actually effect you?
because they can use their skins forever now
So? Its literally playing dress up with virtual characters. No adult in their right minds would pay money for that, but if its free of course they'll take it.
Its not even like csgo or tf2, you cant trade these virtual barbie dresses with other people, once you buy them they lose all monetary value.
🎶Life is unfair🎶
If you play the lotto every day, and some guy finds a scratcher in the garbage and wins a million dollars, should he have his winnings revoked? It's shitty and unfair but you would have done the same thing if you were in that situation. You spending an inordinate amount of money does not make your opinion any more valid.
But is a $20 udyr skin really worth $20. what if you get banned? Do you expect a refund, what if league gets shut down is it still worth? Is it devalued because someone can pull it from a chest?
The skins have 0 real world value someone getting them for free doesn't make yours worth any less, you can't resale them anyway. Think of skins as you supporting a free game you like playing, and you'd probably be a lot less pissed than you are now. If not maybe you should evaluate your spending habits and not buy things you think are worthless.
No, I don't think so. Players who spend more money on a game should not have more sway. No one made you spend the money. You exchanged money for digital goods. To think you're entitled to have more influence over the game than others is pretty childish. Your transaction was fulfilled and you recieved what you pay for. You deserve nothing else.
Yes, and they are spending money for cosmetics, not for fucking influence over the company. You want influence? Be a damn shareholder.
That's what you think but truth is... U can stop putting money into it, another whale will take your seat.
There would be another game and no one would care
A purchase is an agreement to exchange specific goods or services for currency. It doesn't guarantee anything about the value of the item going forward. Do you think that every time something goes on sale it's violating some sort of contract with the people who bought it at full price?
As soon as you got your skin that contract was fulfilled. You deserve nothing else.
I would think damn that guy got lucky and then continue paying the normal price. It's like being upset that somebody won the lottery. Yes they can now buy as many skins for their irl character as they want but that doesn't really affect me.
Nah that just means you are petty and entitled.
I have nothing against the people that got the free stuff. And I fail to see how I'm entitled when I'm not asking for anything, if anything the people who got free stuff are entitled because they think they own the stuff they should never have gotten in the first place.
I feel bad for the people who will fork out the RP for these capsules when there are people who received the same thing for basically nothing. The analogies on both sides are shit because the situation is different.
Are you equating achievement and earning a reward with spending money?
Sponsored by EA.
tbf it still is kind of a stupid comparison even if one understand what he was going for.
Actually like half the comparisons people are using here are quite bad, no matter wheter they are for or against the revert
Yup, agreeing with you here.
Seems very different. Earning something purely off of character and buying a digital cosmetic isn't similar at all, from a matter of principle.
That's so fucking stupid, on so many levels.
First of all: No one buys (Well hopefully at least) skins as an evaluation of how good you play, well behaved or amazing you are. It's simply a vanity item you buy because it makes the game more fun to you. It has nothing to do with your reputation or skill.
Second of all: Getting a well done sticker from your mum because you did something right isn't about the sticker. It's about the idea that you get acknowledgement for your work and that doesn't go anywhere whether someone else has 2 or 2000 of them.
Nobody thinks player X is a better person / player than player Y because he has a skin for every character, nobody gives a shit, it's about your personal enjoyment of playing that character. Whether you're vanilla or cartoon plush sword character in bright pink is irrelevant to what your teammates think about you, they'll judge you whether you're amazing or trash no matter what skins you have.
I swear this comment section is hopeless.
Please never gamble.
Continuation of the story: you come back home and waste 2k on few pixels. The other guy comes home and gets pixels for free. Now it makes your pixels worthless (because it hurts your janitor pride)
Sorry I missed the part where we started putting "Spent money on a vanity cosmetic luxury item" to "Money I make putting in effort and working an actual job"
Because, I'm sorry, but if you think the money you get as a payment for doing your job is the same evaluation for what you do as spending your own money on a vanity item with no actual realistic value, then you might have some more severe problems than just being upset that someone paid less for their Riven to be a different colour.
Excuse me? Your own logic shits itself in the space of one sentence. The ‘payment for doing your job’ IS THE SAME THING as ‘your own money spent on a vanity item’. I earn that money and I spend it. Whose money are you spending when you buy riot points?
Here’s the part your brain seems to be skipping a track on. Value is abstract. I could spend what I earn on gold bullion or I could spend it on a cosmetic item in a video game. The fed opening the doors to Fort Knox and Rito effectively giving away every skin in the game for free both destroy the respective value of those things. If you can’t see that after I ELI5’d it to you then I don’t think there’s much hope for you.
Yes but the money you get for doing your job is a reward for actually achieving something.
A luxury product you purchased is a decision you made to " waste " your earned money on. We buy luxury products to enjoy ourselves. If you buy something with the sole purpose of feeling better about yourself because you have it and others don't, isn't that inherently kind of a toxic attitude.
If I buy a skin then I'm gonna use it and be happy that I can use it. It doesn't change the value or my enjoyment of it if someone else has it, too no matter how they got it. The game stays the same. No one is stronger or weaker, we're just both happy that we can look the way we want to look.
If this was a gameplay element, or a reward of some kind etc. I'd maybe get it, but this is genuinely just a personal enjoyment vanity item that you deemed to be worth the amount of money you spent on it.
Why does it suddenly stop being worth what you paid just because someone got it for less. It happens all the time with sales, giveaways etc. those are just intended. But I don't get salty over paying for a GPU when someone wins it or gets it way cheaper because of a company error. I laugh at the idiot company for losing out on money because of a mistake, I don't get angry at the person who got a sick deal.
Great argument, thanks for having this indepth conversation where you explain your counter argument.
Good to know that being happy for others is "fucking dumb lol".
imagine carrying this much hatred because you missed out on a couple of entirely cosmetic items zzz
Oh and the guy is actually a professional fortnite mobile player of your company. He was extremaly lucky to get this very specific, niche job.
Person A spends 2k on skins. Person B made a minute gap and spent 0$ of the same amount of skins as Person A. Person A is pissed. Person A is also the whales that allow Person B to continue playing this game for free. Developer does nothing to please Person A.
Why is Person A pissed, though? They didn't lose anything and person B getting skins doesn't affect them in any way.
Person A just sounds jealous
This is probably the dummest shit I have heard. You are not allowing anyone else to play. You didn't spend 2k out of the kindness of your heart in order let others play the game for free. Riot had a product you wanted so you paid for it. Riot then takes that money and allows person b to play for free. In the end you would have never cared if you didn't hear about this as the skins you bought have not changed at all. This is nothing more than jealousy.
I started late season 2
Your account isn’t worth anything, selling accounts is against the TOS and fraudulent.
So no, your logic doesn’t work here.
Selling prescription drugs is also illegal, but that doesn't mean they dont have street value.
Your account has no value at all since nothing on it can be traded. No value was lost because there wasn't any there in the first place.
I may have "only" spent $500 on League and I do have some rare cosmetics of various kinds, but this mentality that they "lose value" because more people have them is bullshit.
I assume you haven't bought any RP since hextech crafting was introduced, then? Free skins have been a thing for years so if you paid money knowing you might get stuff for free in the future, that's on you.
Also, bugs like this have happened before so why weren't you waiting for one if it was that important to you?
Because you don't feel like waiting another 8 years for a minute chance of it happening? Use your brain d00d, not your emotions.
Every major video game evenutally falls in price, usually to half or below within a couple years, and yet millions of people will pay full price when it comes out. How is this any different?
Well okay, if we're going to break the rules and sell accounts I guess they have value, but I had assumed we weren't trying to get banned here.
Okay, I can see where you're coming from then.
Although even in that case, it would only devalue your account if you were going to sell it, and I doubt any of the people in this thread complaining about it were planning on doing so.
"I'd do it too but fuck everyone who did it."
It didn't devalue shit. You're just a child when it comes to money. Do you feel like your house or your car is devalued because some rich person somewhere buys a mansion and a bugatti?
Grow up and stop spending your money on a children's video game
i mean i got the money to spend lol, its my money i can spend it how i want, i leave 10% a month on a fun budget, i can do what i want with it.
id be more terrified of the 'abuse a bug - get banned' memo that is usually in most real money stores tbh
Let's be honest if given the opportunity to have just about every skin unlocked everyone would do so and the only people who are that upset are people who didn't get that chance
No shit sherlock? If EVERYONE had the chance as in if the bug stayed that way for the entire day people wouldn't complain, but now just because someone happened to be browsing the shop at a certain hour they now have hundreds of skin shards for which a normal person right now would have to pay A LOT of money, like really A LOT.
It's a pretty bad habit to just strawman and assume anyone who disagrees with you benefitted from it. I hadn't, I've spent about 2k on the game. I wish I had exploited it and if it happened again I'd do it in a heartbeat but I don't really care about other people getting cosmetics in a video game.
I also missed the exploit and really don't give a shit.
Dude you’re handling this like a child. Why do you care so much if other people got free stuff? I’m personally just happy for them sprinkled with a bit of light hearted envy.
I disagree with you and I got 0 free skins. All y'all are acting entitled.
