IMAGINE SPENDING LITERAL THOUSANDS ON FAKE CLOTHES
Sounds like you spend your money like a goddamn child.
Did the loot vanish from your account?
This is like being mad that some player was born rich and bought more skins with their parents' money. "Hey, that guy didn't work for their loot like I did! Revert it!"
This is more or less the same argument people have against raising the minimum wage.
No, its not the argument against raising the minimum wage. Where do you read this as an argument? Vox? Motherjones? No this is part of the argument in short form.
I've seen countless people state the same thing in multiple ways all over the Internet:
"I wEnT tO sChOoL fOr TeN yEaRs FoR fIfTeEn DoLlArS aN hOuR, bUrGeR fLiPpErS dOn'T dEsErVe It"
Sure it is.
I mean no the fuck it isn't
Raising the minimum wage will increase the price of... everything lmao
That’s not true at all
explain to me how increasing the cost to manufacture/ship/sell something will not increase the cost to buy it
raising minimum wage forces businesses to raise prices lol
You are absolutely correct, higher wages will make items increase in price, but not to a significant degree to out weigh the benefits.
When a business is spending 20% of their total expenses on labour, and minimum wage goes from $7.25 to $10 an hour, that's an increase of 38%, But in terms of the business, their total cost of running their business has increased by 7% at maximum.
So yes, maybe they'll charge 7% more to make up the difference, but each individual is now making 38% more money.
That's actually the first time it's been presented to me where it makes sense that everyone would benefit
The reason Unions are pro-minimum wage hikes is they get to charge MORE for their skilled labor.
If I'm paying someone with skills $15 an hour and then the minimum is raised to $15, that worker will now need to be paid more after otherwise why work for minimum if you have skills?
Added its stupid on another front. Minimum wage employees are often a luxury. There are costs I take in business that are for convenience or making it nicer for employees. At some point paying someone X amount to clean the bathroom becomes too much, the value of the labor is outpaced by the cost. Its not WORTH it. So the other employees have to pick up the slack. Most businesses are not made of infinite money.
You know not every employee is a minimum wage worker right? Raising the minimum wage isn’t going to raise the price of cars for example.
price of goods is not directly correlated to cost of production - you may know this gap in the relation as "profit" or "markup"
And how will companies respond to decreased profits? Increase markup!
So the problem is the firms seeking profit, not the wages, then? Perhaps we should outlaw excessive profit seeking as we raise minimum wages to address this, hm?
Now that's certainly something I'd want to avoid if I was the head of a company
I.e divest lol
Sounds like a great way to make sure companies shut down and very few new businesses replace them.
You don’t know a lot about economics do you
Ok but you’re comparing gas which is essential for traveling to video game skins which likely have no effect on gameplay so that’s not a great comparison
I just feel like the only people upset are those who missed out, and while skins are cool it doesn’t have any lasting effects. I’d be sour too, but not on Reddit-rioting-saying it needs to be reverted-comparing to economics sour (all things I am seeing in the comments)
I’m walking out of the store, and the guy behind me gets his tank filled for free, I’m gonna be pissed. Sure, it’s great that they got the free gas, but I just paid for mine.
Why? Seconds earlier you were happy to pay $80 for the gas. You still have the gas. What has changed?
So nothing should ever go on sale?
The whole situation is like a store having a typo on a price tag and not realizing it until it's too late. Now they have to honor the deal as written because doing otherwise is false advertisement.
exactly, removing content people paid for die to their mixup is on them not the consumer
But what about sales?
Man wait till you read about how the world's predominant economic system works. You do realize there are people (the rich, most of which inherited a ton of money through no virtue or work of their own) who adversely affect the majority's socioeconomic status. Stop fucking worrying about a guy who might get free gas or people who got lucky and got free skins and think a little bigger. Don't be a petty rube, man.
Neither of us mentioned whether the guy getting free gas is not "out there working" or not, but supposing he is out of work but just got lucky to get free gas, are you suggesting he doesn't deserve it because you have money and he doesn't?
You deserve to be ashamed of your choice.
