The guy picked up the exhausted dog, and he turned out to be a wonderful husky.

Forgive me, I don't understand. Could you please explain?

A now and later is basically a harder starburst, so imagine trying to blow a bubble with that

Saying a Now and Later is a harder Starburst is a gross understatement. God himself could try to chew a fresh Now and Later and chip a tooth.

They’ll pull fillings out.

And crowns...

That wasn't a cheap fix.

The old sugar daddy candy would pull better.

Abba Zabbas weren't easy on the dental work, either.

Abba Zabba, you a dentists only friend.

Sounds good. But they are softer.

Now and Later, aka the candy single-handedly keeping orthodontists in business for the last 30 years.

Fuckers ripped out braces like no other. It was like chewing on tree sap.

level 5

I thought it was bc now and laters are square

level 5

That still doesn't make any sense.

Chewing gum is really soft, now and laters are hard.

Think of it like using an actual trampoline as a trampoline vs trying to bounce on concrete.

Is “now and later” a brand?

level 8

Yes it’s a type of chewy candy that takes forever to chew because it’s so tough (you’ll be eating the same piece both “now and later”). Blowing a bubble through gum is easy bc the gum is soft and stretchy, not hard and tough. This guy’s jaw looks strong af, so maybe he could do it.

This is one of the beauties with reddit: I see a comment that doesn’t make any sense to me (often cultural references unknown to me), just read a little further and it has all been explained already.

level 9

Huh. That's why the name. Kinda clever, TIL.
